When Your Teeth, or Your Dentures, Start Running Your Day

Maybe you order what is easiest to chew. Maybe you have gotten used to sore spots and adhesive. Or maybe you have just been told your remaining teeth cannot be saved. Dr. Hardy’s message to anyone in that spot:

“I know that this is a big decision, and anxiety is probably not helping the situation. Just know that we are here to listen without judgment and find options that work for your unique situation.”

Your Denture Options in Chickasaw, Explained

“There is no one-size-fits-all treatment plan,” Dr. Hardy says. Here is the honest version of each option.

Full Dentures

A full denture replaces every tooth in an arch and is usually the most affordable way to restore a complete smile. The trade-off is that it rests on your gums, and lower dentures especially can be harder to keep steady.

Partial Dentures

If you still have healthy teeth, a partial fills the gaps and helps keep your remaining teeth from drifting.

Immediate Dentures

When teeth need to come out, we handle the extractions right here in our office, and an immediate denture is made ahead of time so you are not without teeth while you heal. As your gums change, expect a few adjustments or a reline.

Implant-Retained Dentures

A few dental implants can anchor a denture so it stays put when you eat and talk. We offer both snap-on dentures, which you remove for cleaning, and fixed dentures that stay in place. An implant-retained upper denture can also be designed with an open palate, which can make a real difference for people with a strong gag reflex.

Life With a Denture That Actually Fits

A good denture shows up in ordinary moments: biting into a sandwich without thinking twice, laughing at dinner without covering your mouth, smiling in the family photo because you want to.

One of Dr. Hardy’s patients could not tolerate her first denture because of her gag reflex. Four implants later, Dr. Hardy built her an open-palate overdenture, finished just in time for her daughter’s wedding.

What to Expect at North Bay Dental

It starts with a consultation, where Dr. Hardy examines your mouth, listens to what is bothering you, and lays out the options that fit your situation and budget. We use traditional impressions or a digital scan so your denture matches your bite, shape, and shade. At your try-in appointment, you see how it looks before it is finished. After delivery, plan on a few follow-up visits for fine-tuning, and those adjustments are included in your fee. If implants are involved, they are placed first, followed by a healing period.

Relines and Repairs

We do relines in-house, usually the same day and within 24 to 48 hours at most. If a denture or partial breaks, we send it to our dental lab for repair, with a typical turnaround of 24 to 48 hours.

What Do Dentures Cost in Chickasaw?

Cost depends on the type of denture and whether implants are involved. You will get real numbers for your plan at your consultation. “We genuinely try to help our patients with what they need, and don’t ever try to ‘sell’ dentistry to them,” Dr. Hardy says.

We work with many dental insurance plans and will help you understand your benefits. Sunbit financing lets you split treatment into monthly payments with no hard credit check, and our membership plan is an option for patients without insurance.

Meet Dr. Jeremy Hardy, DMD

Dr. Hardy graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry, completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in 2006, and has practiced in Baldwin and Mobile counties since 2010. “We are in the people business, not the tooth business,” he says. Early in his career, he made a partial denture for a patient he had gone to high school with, who later wrote to thank him for helping him get his smile, and his life, back together.

Denture Questions, Answered

How much do dentures cost in Chickasaw, AL?

It depends on the type of denture, how many teeth are replaced, and whether implants are involved. Dr. Hardy will give you a clear estimate at your consultation, and our team can help with insurance benefits or Sunbit financing.

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?

Most people adjust within a few weeks. Speech may feel different at first and sore spots are common early on, so plan on a few follow-up visits for fine-tuning. Those adjustment visits are included in your denture fee.

How long do denture relines and repairs take?

Relines are done in our office, usually the same day and within 24 to 48 hours at most. Repairs go to our dental lab and typically take 24 to 48 hours.

Can I wear dentures if I have a strong gag reflex?

Often, yes. An implant-retained denture can be designed with an open palate that leaves the roof of the mouth uncovered, which helps many patients who cannot tolerate a traditional upper denture.

What are implant-retained dentures, and do I need surgery?

They attach to a few dental implants so the denture stays secure. North Bay Dental offers both snap-on and fixed versions. Placing implants is a surgical step, and Dr. Hardy will walk you through every part of it before you decide.

What happens if my remaining teeth need to be removed?

We do extractions right here in our office, and Dr. Hardy will talk with you about an immediate denture so you have teeth while your gums heal.

Will my dentures look natural?

Your denture is shaped and shaded for your face, and at your try-in appointment you see how it looks before it is finished. The goal is a smile that still looks like you.
